Although Spring has just arrived in Chicago, the park districts have posted their summer programs. That means it’s time to sign up for this years Palatine Area Community Marching Band! You can sign up online or in person at the park districts. Here’s the vital info.
Practices will be Monday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 8pm. The official park district description:
Want to be a part of the camaraderie of a band playing and marching in step? This band is open to adults and high school students with previous instrumental experience (no marching experience necessary). Please bring your instrument, a music lyre, a water bottle and comfortable athletic shoes to each rehearsal. Rehearsals will be held indoors and outdoors. Participants will march in the Palatine Jaycees Independence Day Parade on July 4.
All good things must occasionally take a small pause to rebuild. The Palatine Area Community Marching Band will not be performing in the Palatine Independence Day Parade on July 4, 2015. This years participant count did not meet the Park District class minimum requirement. While we’ve had smaller groups in the past, we also did not have balanced instrumentation this year.
But don’t fret. We plan to be back next year! And tell your musical friends to consider joining our group. The time commitment is short, and we have a great time.
Summer is nearly here, which means PACMB practice starts soon!
The Palatine Area Community Marching Band will resume rehearsals on Monday, June 1st. We have new rehearsal days (Monday and Thursday) and a brand new time, 7-8 pm. We know several people were coming from work and found it difficult to make the earlier start time, and we hope this helps!
The parade this year will be held Saturday, July 4th. We’re usually done and headed home by noon…plenty of time to make those BBQs!
Registration is open for Palatine & Rolling Meadows residents through their respective Park Districts. Non-residents can sign up Tuesday, May 26 on the Palatine Park District site! The band will be $35 for residents and $44 for non-residents.
Please let us know if you have any questions! See you soon!
Our practice regimen for the July 2013 season has begun. But, it’s not too late to join us! Practices are Tuesday and Thursday evening, 6:30 to 7:30, at the Palatine Park District building on Wood Street. Sign up at the Palatine Park District or the Rolling Meadows Park District via a reciprocal arrangement.
